A Thrill that Comes Once In a Life Time
This is Station K.M.O.X., the voice of St. Louis, broadcasting our regular tryout period from two until three o’clock. This program does not go out on the air.
Here we are already getting stage fright in that mysterious broadcasting station in the Hotel Mayfair. When will our turn come to try out; it is almost three o’clock? What a disappointment! We must return next week because there are too many waiting to try out since it is Saturday.
Next Saturday comes and all is well. Here we are again at Station K.M.O.X. Everything seems familiar this week and we have no stage fright. Why the afternoon…

It is our turn to try out and a tiny fear begins to seize us. After we play a few notes, however, it completely disappears for there in the announcing room are the staff members and announcer encouraging us with friendly smiles. We are finished! What will the answer be? Shall we be allowed to play over the radio in the future or shall we have to return home disappointed? Here come the judges and announcer! What excitement! What a thrill! We have passed the tryout and before we can say anything we are asked if we can return that same evening to play over the radio. Another thrill!
